Get to Know Me

Hi, I’m Kayla — a wife, mama to three beautiful babies, and the hands behind Grace Abode.

Before I ever started creating tallow skincare, I spent years learning and working with hair, skin, and nails. I became a licensed cosmetologist in 2023, and while I am still currently licensed, I chose to step away from the salon world so I could embrace my greatest calling which is being a stay-at-home mama to my three little ones.

My cosmetology education taught me so much more than hair. I learned the science behind beauty; understanding pH balance, ingredients, product interactions, microbiology, sanitation, and safety. A huge part of my training was proper cleaning, disinfection, and infection control. We spent countless hours learning how to safely work with products, tools, and clients because maintaining a clean and safe environment is absolutely essential in this industry.

That background gave me a deep appreciation for formulation and understanding what goes into the products we use every day. But it also opened my eyes to something that completely changed the way I viewed personal care.

I started realizing just how many unnecessary, harsh, and questionable ingredients are found in the products we use on our bodies every single day. Our skin is our largest organ, and what we choose to put on it matters.

That realization changed everything for me.

As a mother, this became even more important. My babies have incredibly sensitive skin, and I saw firsthand how many “gentle” products weren’t actually gentle for them. I wanted something different. I wanted products I felt completely comfortable applying to my own skin and my children’s skin. Products where I knew every ingredient, understood its purpose, and could feel confident about what we were using.

That journey led me back to traditional ingredients, especially one of nature’s most treasured gifts….tallow.

I fell in love with the simplicity and nourishment of tallow skincare. There is something so special about returning to ingredients that have been used for generations and creating products that work with our skin instead of overwhelming it.

That’s where Grace Abode was born.

Grace Abode is built on faith, family, and a love for simple ingredients. My faith in Jesus is the foundation of our home and the center of everything I do. This business is a reflection of the gifts, creativity, and purpose God has placed on my heart.

Every product is thoughtfully handcrafted with intention on our family farm in western Nebraska. I take pride in knowing exactly what goes into every jar and creating products our skin truly deserves. I love using traditional ingredients, herbal infusions, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. I even choose to stay away from essential oils in many products when I can, because I believe sometimes less truly is more.

Outside of Grace Abode, I’m a wife to my best friend whom has served our country and I’m so proud to say we are a veteran family. We’ve been married since 2020, and together we’re raising our three children on our Nebraska farm. We spend our days embracing a slower way of life by preserving food, gardening, raising animals, and creating things from scratch.

Whether I’m rendering tallow, infusing herbs, making skincare, canning, or teaching my children the beauty of a simpler lifestyle, I love creating with my own two hands.

Grace Abode is more than skincare. It is a piece of our family, our faith, and our desire to return to the simple things - honest ingredients, intentional living, and caring for our bodies the way they were created to be cared for.

Thank you for allowing me to share a little piece of our home with you. Supporting this small business means supporting a mama’s dream, and I am so grateful you’re here.
